Week 4 Getting from Here to There Moses' Mission - Willing Hearts - a talk by Canon Andrew Evans

Inspired by Exodus 35. 20-24, 29

When God gave to the people of Israel the promise of liberation and a new land, he did not promise that getting there would be easy.  And over the last few weeks we have been looking at just how difficult it actually was.  Yet God never abandoned his people, even though they showed themselves again and again not to be truly faithful.  And although we are coming to the end of this series, and our exploration of Exodus, the Israelites have to go on for another four books in the bible (Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy and Joshua) before they do eventually settle in the Promised Land.  Phew, how many worn out pairs of sandals is that?

Week 3 Getting from Here to There Moses' Mission - Trouble at Mill - a talk by Canon Andrew Evans

God has some important things to download to Moses so he calls him to a briefing on top of Mount Sinai.  God likes mountain tops shrouded in smoke and mist, a bit of the theatrical adds mystery and suspense.  Is God finally going to tell Moses the way to the Promised Land and an end to this ceaseless wandering?

Week 2 Getting From Here to There Moses' Mission - Mind Your Manna's - a talk by Canon Andrew Evans

Inspired by Exodus 16.1-8 and Numbers 11.18-21

Moses got a BIG job from God.  Take a whole nation used to living in slavery and lead them out into the unknown chasing some vague idea of there being a ‘promised’ land somewhere ‘out there’.

Week 1 Getting from here to there. Moses’ Mission - Vision of a Promised Land - a talk by Canon Andrew Evans

Inspired by Exodus 3.1-8)

The book of Exodus tells this amazing story of how God rescued his people. A young chap called Joseph, bit of a daddy’s favourite who liked to dress sharply, really ticks off his brothers. They dump him in the desert and go home to tell the old man some wild animal got him.  However, wanting a bit of pocket money themselves they decide to sell their brother into slavery.  Cut a long story short (the Bible can go on a bit), Joseph saves his brothers and the whole people of Israel and leaves a story which makes Andrew Lloyd Webber a lotta money in the West End (London not Cairo).
